During the discussion session in Sylvia Guidara's presentation ('Introducing 21st Century Learning - Unpacking the ISTE Student NETS', 16th July, 2012) I trialed The App Builder. The web based dashboard was intuitive and straight forward to use, and I was able to produce a simple app that could present analysis essay content in a novel way quickly. I was, however, chiefly interested in how The App Builder handles comments, and was disappointed with the results. I was hoping that the feedback section would record comments like those in forums or below newspaper articles such that the thinking/feedback of others would be available for all to see, and therefore make an aspect of their thinking visible. This was not the case; feedback is instead sent via email to the maker of the app, and not seen by anyone else. I type this entry with two purposes: first, to recommend having a 20-30 minute play around with The App Builder, and second to trial using Wikispaces to create an online forum for students to post work and have others comment on it.
